Sana Sana: Making Self-Care Ritual

July 26, 2016

In response to the persistent violence facing Black & Indigenous people of color communities (PoC), I have compiled a packet of healing justice resources, songs, and poems.

Also included are organizing guides for those who heal best through action (a document created by the legal group Law for Black Lives).

I deeply appreciate organizations like JustHealing and Harriet's Apothecary,  media platforms like Black Girl Dangerous, and folks like JustJasmine, Alexis Pauline GumbsAdrienne Maree Brown who prioritize healing justice and traditional medicines and who lovingly share their conociemiento with us.

I am deeply grateful for my grandmothers and their grandmothers for teaching me carribean curanderismo & Jaslico-magic, and the importance of prioritizing rituals and the kind of self-care that keeps us connected to our communities and ourselves.

I want to keep bringing healing to the front.

On August 18th, 2016 we are holding a community healing event "Our Space' in our lil' city of Lansing, MI.  This is a family friendly pot-luck style event and we encourage folks to bring their board games, belly laughs, tears, and creative expression.

There will be an open mic, food, kids activities, and space to affirm each other's grief in all the ways it manifests.

Click here for more information about the event.
